“These smell so good, Lei.” Aayla breathes in the cinnamon scent from my homemade apple pies. “I’m hungry.” She rubs her belly.

“You always are.” I laugh lightly, picking up a square of Colby Jack cheese off the elaborate charcuterie board on the counter.

“Well, I am eating for three people.” She turns sideways, pushing the fabric of her cream top tight against her growing bump to show it off while her long plum-colored skirt swishes around her legs. Her smile sparkles brightly as she picks up an olive from the platter, popping it into her mouth with a satisfying sound. I contemplate telling Aayla that Kohen kissed me, but I decide against it because I don’t even know why it happened or how to handle it. I’ve sort of been ignoring him all day because my feelings are all over the damn place.

“How are the little sweet peas?” I ask, changing the subject and biting into a baby carrot. Movement from the doorway catches my attention, and I look over and see Latham and Kohen talking. I keep my eyes on their exchange but give Aayla my ears, listening to her.

“Growing every day, I can’t believe I’m at the end of the first trimester already.”

“When do you find out the genders?” I glance at her quickly and pull out a stool for her to sit, pointing to the seat silently. She rolls her eyes and plops down to get off her feet as my gaze goes back to the guys. We sit for a few more minutes, snacking and laugh when Audra and Hensley go tearing through the kitchen, giggling with each other. They look too cute in their flowery dresses.

“Slow down, Hensley!” Latham calls after her with a smile.

“Dr. Simmons said we could do an early ultrasound at sixteen weeks that might tell us, but we’d do another at twenty weeks just to be sure.” She chews on a slice of yellow bell pepper with ranch dip smeared all over it. “We could do the 3-D ultrasound too, she said that those are ninety-nine percent accurate at sixteen weeks.”

“Do that! Auntie wants to shop!” I say excitedly, making Aayla smile again.

“Latham wants to do a gender reveal party, but wants to be surprised, so I don’t know who to give the envelope to.” She eyes me with a squinty look. When I notice her face, I press a finger to my chest.

“Who me? No, I want to find out with you guys. What about Boone?”

“You know, I think he’d really love that.”

“Me too. So, do you have any names picked yet?”

“We have a couple boy names, but we can’t agree on anything for girls. We just love Hensley’s so much that we think nothing will top it.”

“You’ll figure it out, sweets. You may not even need it.” I rub her arm. “So, do I get to know the boy names?”

“I’ll tell you one name, one. We like Kyler.” She whispers, making me smile.

“That’s totally cute!” I look over again and
